Why It Is Hard To Forgive

The Cost of Resentment: Why Forgiving is Worth It

Embrace forgiveness as a powerful tool for inner peace and lasting healing.

In the episode you will learn:
1. What are five reasons it’s hard to forgive, and how can we make it easier?
2. Is there a secret to releasing anger and resentment in a healthy way?
3. How can we protect ourselves from being hurt again without numbing out our emotions?

“Forgiveness is not always easy. At times, it feels more painful than the wound we suffered to forgive the one that inflicted it. And yet there is no peace without forgiveness.”

I had a tumultuous relationship with my last ex. We were both struggling to be heard and understood, but instead of trying to work through our issues together, we both turned to unhealthy coping mechanisms. I drank and he became outwardly angry. We were stuck in a cycle of trying to prove that we were right and make the other wrong.

I didn’t understand why it was so hard for us to forgive, but after some research, I learned that there were several reasons. One of them being that we didn’t know how or where to begin. I was also filled with thoughts of retribution and revenge, and I was addicted to the adrenaline that anger provided. I identified as a victim, and I was hoping that by not forgiving I could protect myself from being hurt again. Maybe you can relate?

In this episode, you will learn the following:

1. What are five reasons it’s hard to forgive, and how can we make it easier?
2. Is there a secret to releasing anger and resentment in a healthy way?
3. What are the steps to begin unwinding a resentment or grudge?
